چکیده

Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate if static retinoscopy has a higher correlation with monocular than binocular subjective refraction, and also to see if there is any difference between these results and Mohindra retinoscopy. Methods: Retinoscopy and subjective refraction was performed on 32 adult subjects and the results from 29 of these were analysed. Results: The statistical analyses showed that static retinoscopy has a higher correlation with monocular than binocular subjective refraction. Overall the correlation was high between all the refraction methods. Conclusion: Static retinoscopy has a higher correlation with monocular than binocular subjective refraction in adults. Static and Mohindra retinoscopy are similar, and Mohindra retinoscopy is highly correlated with subjective refraction in adults.

Comparison of Subjective Refraction under Binocular and Monocular Conditions in Myopic Subjects

To compare subjective refraction under binocular and monocular conditions, and to investigate the clinical factors affecting the difference in spherical refraction between the two conditions. We examined thirty eyes of 30 healthy subjects. Binocular and monocular refraction without cycloplegia was measured through circular polarizing lenses in both eyes, using the Landolt-C chart of the 3D visu...

Autorefraction, Retinoscopy, Javal's Rule, and Grosvenor's Modified Javal's Rule: The Best Predictor of Refractive Astigmatism

The aim of the study was to determine the level of agreement between Javal's rule, autorefraction, retinoscopy, and refractive astigmatism and to determine which technique is the most suitable substitute when subjective refraction is not applicable using a clinical sample. A total of 36 subjects, 14 males and 22 females, were involved in this study. The intraclass correlation coefficients betwe...

A comparison of cycloplegic refraction to the near retinoscopy technique for refractive error determination.

The near retinoscopy technique of refractive error determination was compared to the standard method of cycloplegic refraction using 10 "infants" (3-12 months of age) and 10 "children" (32-109 months of age). There was a significant difference between the techniques for both sphere and cylinder power. Although there was no interaction of refractive technique and age group, the difference betwee...

An Attempt of Subjective Refraction Test Maintaining Everyday Pupil Diameter Using Ground Glass Lens

Purpose: To investigated the effects of pupil dilation on subjective refraction by using ground glass lens. Methods: Forty-two subjects (22.1 ± 1.2 years) participated in the study. We measured the change in pupil diameter during binocular and monocular vision (using an occluder and a ground glass lens). And we conducted subjective refraction test using an occluder and a ground glass lens. Pair...
